Robot Creations in Room 1!

Today, we reviewed our robot drawings and designs. We then found boxes and other materials to match our design....and started putting our robots together!

Flat Man visits Room 11

On Friday the 16th of May (Book Character Dress up Day) we have a very special visit from Flat Man, who arrived to give one of our students their prize for a dressing up as Spiderman. This was a special competition that her family entered her into and she won a great bag of Spiderman toys and Room 11 kids also received a sweet treat! It was very nice to meet you Flat Man...do come and visit us again!

Bee Bots in Room 11

We had a really fun hour and a half with Anna from Science Alive today! We learnt how to program a little robot. Super fun!

Getting to know you...

Today the children in Rooms 1, 3 and 4 worked together in small groups to create team flags. We are getting to know all the children in our team, making new friends and learning how to work collaboratively with one another.

Have a look at these photos of some of the groups working together this afternoon:

Who Sank The Boat?

We are learning so much...Room 1 are just AMAZING me more and more each day!!
We loved reading and doing an experiment on Who Sank The Boat, using playdough characters.

The Room 1 tamariki decided it was ALL of the animals that sunk the boat...not just the mouse.
Lots of thinking and sharing ideas - great work team!

Book Character Day!

We had fabulous fun dressed as book characters AND reading some of our favourite stories.

We love reading!

Some of the things that we remember to do when we are reading are:

  • point to the words as we read (either with our 'pointy finger' or, when we feel ready, just with our eyes)
  • always look at the pictures because they help remind us about what the story is about
  • make the beginning sound of any unknown words.
